He has 10 years of experience helping children in foster care and Child Protective Services and 4 years of experience providing individual psychotherapy. Michael employs a holistic approach to counseling, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
He has been married 17 years and is the father of five children; one with a common mental health disorder. Caring for a child with special needs has made him uniquely empathetic with child and adolescent clients.
Michael earned his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. His prior counseling positions have included working with schools, county mental health services, and private practice. His previous work experiences include service as a pastor and a police officer. Together, these experiences enable him to connect with clients on a more personal basis.
Michael is currently available for telehealth (online) and in-person visits on Saturdays & Mondays. He serves clients ages 4- 59.
