Kim
Kim is a Resident Counselor with a background in education and a passion for supporting children, teens, and families. She uses a psychodynamic-relational approach to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their stories.
Kim is a Resident in Counseling approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling, currently under the guidance of Carolyn Sinclair, LPC, and Gabrielle Anderson, LMFT/RPT-S as part of her licensure process.
My Approach
Recognizing the significance of staying updated with the latest clinical research, Kim prioritizes personalized care for her clients. She utilizes a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual's needs, including:
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Child-Centered Play Therapy
- Mindfulness Techniques
For clients approaching counseling from a faith perspective, Kim is committed to honoring and integrating their beliefs into the counseling process, recognizing the inherent dignity and worth that each client brings to the table.
Education & Training
Kim graduated with distinction from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, earning a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling. Additionally, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an Elementary Education Certification, graduating with top honors.
She is dedicated to furthering her expertise and is pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist. Kim has also completed Level 1 and 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, reflecting her commitment to offering comprehensive support to individuals and couples.
